Stiles to Be Inducted into North Central College Hall of Fame

St. Louis, Mo., June 5, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's and women's cross country and track & field head coach Jeff Stiles has been selected for induction to his alma mater North Central College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.

Stiles will enter the Hall of Fame with a group of six individuals after a stellar career at NCC. The group will be honored with an induction ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 27, coinciding with NCC's Homecoming festivities.

He was a five-time All-American and four-time individual College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) champion in track and field, competing in the 1,500- and 5,000m runs and the 3,000m steeplechase.

Stiles posted two second-place finishes at the NCAA Division III National Championships as a senior, in the 5,000m indoors and the steeplechase outdoors, and capped off his career by helping the Cardinals win the 1998 outdoor national championship. He also earned All-America honors as a senior in cross country, placing 35th as North Central won the 1997 national title.

As a coach, Stiles is no stranger to national success. He has led the Bears to a national title in each of the three seasons he coaches. In 2011, Stiles led the women's cross country program to a national title, and the Bears had an unprecedented year in 2017. They won the first national titles in women's program history during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

In total, Stiles has led the Bears men and women to 23 trophy finishes at the cross country, indoor- and outdoor track & field national championships, including four straight by the women's cross country and outdoor track & field program. WashU has collected 45 out of a possible 74 University Athletic Association (UAA) Titles under Stiles leadership.
