St. Louis, Mo., May 29, 2018 – Junior Heidi Nassos of the third place finishing Washington University in St. Louis women's track & field team was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the association on Tuesday.
Nassos played a crucial role in the Bears placing third at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships. She finished her junior season with a pair of All-American placements. Nassos was the 2018 national runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 3.80m.
She followed Thursday's effort with an All-American performance in the triple jump on Saturday. Entering nationals as the 13th-ranked triple jumper, Nassos set the tone for the first flight of jumps with a distance of 11.64m on her first attempt. She proceeded to 11.69m which qualified her for the finals and duplicated the distance to break a tie with another individual for eighth place and an additional All-American honor.
