Waverly, Iowa, March 2, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis track & field program ran two of the fastest distance medley relay times in Division III this season, including a WashU school record for the men at the Wartburg Qualifier.
The WashU men behind the efforts of senior Ethan Brodeur, freshman John Harry Wagner, senior Thomas Gales and sophomore Nick Matteucci set the school record in the event by placing second with a time of 9:56.54. The group finished second overall by a split second behind Wisconsin-Eau Claire's DIII leading 9:56.53.
The Bears time was converted to 9:48.55 and ranks second in DIII. They beat the record previously set in 2016 and held by Mike Sullivan, Alex Bastian, Deko Ricketts and Josh Clark (9:59.23).
The WashU women's team ran to a Division III leading 11:46.88 in the DMR behind junior Abby Martin, sophomore Nicky Althoff, senior Annalise Wagner and senior Alison Lindsay. The group's time is the top in DIII this season and ranks third in school history.
