Terre Haute, Ind., Jan. 12, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis track & field program totaled 17 first place finishes as the women scored 80 points and the men finished with 68 points in a field of three Division III teams at the Rose-Hulman Terre Haute Double Dual.
The women's track & field team defeated Rose-Hulman (56) and Manchester (27). The men's team beat Rose-Hulman (47) and Manchester (28). The Double Dual also featured Division I Indiana State and Illinois State to round out the five teams in the double dual.
The meet pitted Division I competition versus Division I and Division III versus Division III. Illinois State won the men's Division I portion of the dual meet with 79 points to Indiana State's 72, while Indiana State claimed first with 76 points for the women to Illinois State's 75.
Ezugo Onejeme captured multiple first place finishes including the long jump (6.34m) and triple jump (13.42m). Also earning first place finishes for the men were Collis McKenzie (high jump – 1.95m), Nick Matteucci (one-mile – 4:20.18), Andrew Whitaker (60m Hurdles-8.58), Thomas Gales (800m-1:58.28), Eddie Wintergalen (200m-22.96) and the 4x400m relay (3:28.33).
Similarly, for the Bears women, Eka Jose posted second place finishes in the long jump (5.20m) and triple jump (11.4m). The women finished with nine first place efforts behind Randal Walker (weight throw – 13.27m), Julia Dannenbaum (pole vault-3.53m), Heidi Nassos (pole vault-3.53m), Elise Chao (triple jump-11.4m), Molly Shepherd (one-mile-5:17.06), Caitlin Cheeseboro (60m Hurdles-9.47), Sophie Grigaux (400m-1:00.62), Caira Watson Haynes (60m-8.24), Josephine Simon (200m-27.73) and the 4x400m relay (4:04.29).
