Kleven and Ogede Earn UAA Honors for Track & Field

St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 20, 2017 – Washington University in St. Louis had two student-athletes selected as University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Association on Monday.

Senior Everett Kleven of the men's indoor track and field team and senior Daisy Ogede of the No. 3 women's indoor track and field team were the respective recipients.

Kleven recorded the eighth best height in all of Division III during his second place finish in the pole vault at the Illinois College Alumni Classic. He finished the night with a height of 4.90m.  Kleven has won the UAA indoor field athlete of the week award four total times in his first year with the Bears, including three straight weeks.

The WashU women were led by Ogede's two individual titles. She championed both the 60 hurdles (8.98) and 60 dash (7.74). Both times are season-bests for Ogede as the 60 dash time ranks fourth in NCAA Division III this season and the 60 hurdle time ranks eighth. Ogede also teamed up with freshman Anna Cossio, senior Ashley Knudson and junior Annalise Wagner for the winning 4x400 relay time of 3:54.94 which ranks third best in the country. The Bears 4x400 relay team owns five of the top-six Division III times this season. The Bears totaled eight first place finishes at the Illinois College Alumni Classic on Friday evening. This is Ogede's sixth time winning the UA indoor track athlete of the week honor and second time this season.
