St. Louis, Mo., May 20, 2014 – Washington University in St. Louis assistant track & field coach Lane Lohr was selected as the 2014 NCAA Division III Midwest Region Men's Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Lohr, who also earned the honor in 2009, helped lead Washington U. men's team to its sixth straight University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championship. In his sixth season as an assistant with jumps, sprints and relays, Lohr's athletes accounted for 131 of the team's 215-point tally at the conference meet. His athletes set school records in four events, and four of Washington U.'s eight men's entries for the NCAA Outdoor Championships are from Lohr's event groups.
In eight seasons with the Washington U. track & field program, Lohr has coached the Bears to 29 individual All-America finishes in the sprints and jumps. He has been part of the WUSTL staff that has received UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors 14 times since 2009, including the 2014 UAA Men's Indoor and Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year along with the UAA Women's Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year award.
