WashU Swim & Dive Clears UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 29, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis swimming & diving program finished with a clean sweep of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors as all four awards were bestowed on the Bears.

The No. 7-ranked WashU women had junior Catherine Kuhn and sophomore diver Elizabeth Davidson honored while the 10th-ranked men's senior Brandon Lum and sophomore diver Matthew Grottkau were Male Swimmer and Diver Athlete of the Week recipients.

Kuhn earned a first place finish at the DePauw dual meet by more than five seconds in the 1,650 freestyle, touching the wall in Division III's third fastest time this season, 18:23.83. The No. 7-ranked WashU women totaled 12 first place efforts beating DePauw 185-97.

Davidson dueled with one Tiger during the meet, claiming first by more than 30 points in the three-meter dive posting a mark of 209.45, while falling in the one-meter event with a score of 164.65.

Lum swam to a first place finish in the 200 butterfly at the DePauw dual meet Saturday afternoon, and also posted Division III's fastest time this season when he touched the wall in 1:51.24. In fact, his time is more than 1.5 seconds ahead of the second fastest time thus far. The No. 10-ranked WashU men tallied 11 first place finishes while defeating DePauw University in a dual meet 176-98.

Grottkau was the lone male diver at the DePauw dual meet and posted scores of 180.60 in the one-meter dive and 169.50 in the three-meter dive.
