St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 17, 2018 – Senior Nicole Zanolli of the WashU women's swimming and diving team was named the College Swimming Division III National Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 17, as announced by the organization Wednesday.
Zanolli helped the Bears secure first place finishes on Friday and Saturday at two separate meets. This is her second recognition from College Swimming on the season, as she was previously recognized as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 10.
On Friday during the WashU Invite she posted first place times in the 200 IM (2:10.36), 100 BK (59.97) and 400 free relay (3:41.02). On Saturday at the McKendree University tri-meet in the 100 IM (touch board error on the 51.41 time) and the 500 FR (5:08.73).
WashU finished ahead of the competition Friday and Saturday, placing first at both the WashU Invite and the tri-meet at McKendree University. Zanolli is the second member of the WashU swimming & diving program to garner National Swimmer of the Week honors, as freshman Seth Ritter received the award on Oct. 13.
