WashU Finishes On Top of Tri-Meet Competition at McKendree

Lebanon, Ill., Jan. 13, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis swimming and diving program traveled to the McKendree Rec Plex Saturday afternoon and continued a dominant weekend with victories over McKendree University and Bellarmine University.

The No. 9-ranked WashU women totaled six first place finishes out of 16 events, including two by senior Nicole Zanolli in the 100 IM and the 500 freestyle. Also earning first place finishes for the women were senior Niamh O'Grady (150 butterfly), sophomore Jenna Wilf (150 breaststroke), senior Michelle Murdock (50 butterfly) and senior Laura Barber (one-meter dive).

The No. 7-ranked WashU men captured five first place finishes with junior Kevin Van Cleave and senior Ryan Nathenson tallying four. Van Cleave claimed the 100 IM and 150 breaststroke while Nathenson scored the highest marks in the one- and three-meter dives. Junior Brandon Lum added the fifth Bears first place finish during the 150 butterfly.

The Bears excelled in the 100 IM as Zanolli was followed by O'Grady and senior Alissa Ling for the top-three times for the women while Van Cleave was just a second ahead of his teammate sophomore Jerry Chen's second place time.
