St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 24, 2017 – No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis women's swimming and diving was honored with the selection of senior MariMac Collins as the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division III National Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the association's office on Tuesday.
Collins had a tremendous weekend for the Bears winning four events individually and assisting in three other relay victories during two different meets. Collins first helped the Bears to victory at Lindenwood University while winning the 200 FR (1:57.24), 100 FR (53.54) and helping the 200 Medley Relay win with a time of 1:48.75 on Friday.
The Ridgeland, Miss.-native followed that performance on Saturday with wins in the 50 FR (24.45), 100 FR (53.26) while assisting in the 200 Medley Relay (1:49.23) and the 200 FR Relay (1:39.55) against Truman State.
The WashU women competed against two Division II opponents over the weekend, securing a 140-103 victory over Lindenwood University before the Bears fell to Truman State 145-117.
WashU will be home for the final time this season on Saturday, Jan. 28 in a dual meet against Western Illinois at 1 p.m. Be sure to arrive early as the WashU seniors will be honored prior to the opening event.
