WashU Swimming Adds 19 B-Cut Times to Weekend’s Total

Oxford, Ohio, Dec. 2, 2016 – On the second day of the Miami (Ohio) Invitational, Washington University in St. Louis swam to 14 NCAA Division III B-cut times and set one new school record at the Corwin Nixon Natatorium on Friday. In addition the Bears added five more B-cut times while both the men's and women's teams swam to day one leads at the Wheaton College Invitational.

The women swam to eight B-cut times and the men added six during the Miami Invitational. Freshman Peyton Wilson added to a dominant weekend of backstroke by resetting the WashU school record.

Setting a school record was Peyton Wilson for the second day in a row. He reset WashU's 100 backstroke standard, just a single day removed from setting the record time.  Wilson broke the record on Thursday during the 400 medley relay and continued to reestablish the mark during Friday's 100 BK event. He set the record again in preliminaries before ultimately setting the new mark at 49.71 in the final race.

The WashU women scored 539 points on the opening day of the Wheaton Invite, while the men's 507 points also led the pool of competition. The Bears won six races at Wheaton and added five more B-cut times.

Sophomore Matt Liu and freshman Mollie Seidner highlighted the Wheaton Invite with championship finishes and B-cut times for the Bears. Liu won the men's 100 breaststroke (56.71) while Mollie Seidner won the 100 freestyle (52.05 – Prelim).

WashU will continue swimming Saturday, Dec. 3 during the conclusions of both the Miami and Wheaton Invitationals for its final action of the month. The Bears will return home Friday, Jan. 13th for the Quad Meet.
