St. Louis, Mo., May 16, 2019 — Washington University in St. Louis senior infielder Taylor Arends concluded her four-year career by earning 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region Third Team honors, as announced Thursday by the Association.
Arends, a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, started 33 games at third base and hit a team-best .408 with seven doubles, three triples and 20 RBIs. She ranked first in the conference in on-base percentage (.483) and third in batting average. Arends was named the UAA Hitter of the Week on March 11.
Arends, a three-time all-Region and four-time all-UAA selection, started all 151 games in her career and ranks fifth in WashU school history in hits (190) and sixth in runs scored (127) and batting average (.393).
WashU posted a 15-18 overall record and had the 12th-best strength of schedule (.613) in NCAA Division III.
