BEAR HEADLINES – The Washington University in St. Louis softball team opens a four-game series at Brandeis University on Friday, April 27. Game one is set for 2 p.m. (ET) in Waltham, Mass. The Bears are 7-7 away from home this year.

SCOUTING BRANDEIS – The Judges (11-17, 2-10 UAA) snapped a three-game losing skid with a sweep of Babson on Tuesday. Brandeis ranks third in the UAA in batting average (.293) and earned run average (3.20), and are also tops in hit-by-pitch (17).

The Judges have five players hitting above .300: junior Keri Lehtonen (.391, two HR, 17 RBI), sophomore Scottie Todd (.371, one homerun, eight RBI), senior Amanda Shore (.353, two HR, eight RBI), freshman Jolie Fujita (.333, one HR, 15 RBI) and sophomore PJ Ross (.311, four HR, nine RBI).

Todd is the ace for the Judges compiling a 6-6 record with a 1.68 earned run average in 87 1/3 innings pitched. Sophomore Callie MacDonald has a 4-10 record with a 4.75 ERA in 12 starts for Brandeis.

SERIES HISTORY – WashU leads the all-time series with Brandeis 31-7, and the Bears have won nine-straight meetings. WashU swept the season series at home a year ago.

CLASS OF 2018 – The Bears will honor its five seniors on Saturday, May 5, prior to a doubleheader with New York University – Maggie Clapp, Mackenzie Gauden, Ashley Madsen, Anna McKee and Hera Tang. The group has helped lead WashU to a 104-52 (.667) overall record in four seasons. During this time the Bears won a pair of University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

UAA PLAY – WashU has a 116-48 (.707) all-time record in UAA play, and has won a conference-best 10 titles: 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2017.
