St. Louis, Mo., March 21, 2017 — Senior outfielder Hannah Mehrle of the Washington University in St. Louis softball team was named the Fastpitch News National Hitter of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the website.
Mehrle batted .485 (16-33) with 14 runs scored and 14 RBIs in eight games a week ago. She recorded six multi-hit games, and had five extra-base hits including one round-tripper. Mehrle went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in a 12-0 win over Western Connecticut Monday, and then was 3-for-5 with two run scored, two doubles and four RBIs in a 15-5 victory over Emory & Henry on Tuesday.
She also went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, homerun, four runs score and a career-high five RBIs in a 13-3 win over Smith on Wednesday. Mehrle added five hits in eight at-bats with four runs scored and two RBIs in a doubleheader sweep at Monmouth Sunday.
Mehrle is hitting .523 with six doubles, one triple, one homerun and 18 RBIs. She leads the University Athletic Association (UAA) in RBIs and is third in batting average.
