WashU Lands Five on All-UAA Team; Hillis Named POY

St. Louis, Mo., May 13, 2019 — Sophomore Ethan Hillis earned Player of the Year honors to highlight five Washington University in St. Louis student-athletes named to the 2019 All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Tennis Team, as announced Monday by the conference office. 

Hillis is the first WashU student-athlete to earn the honor since 2013 and the sixth in school history. He was also named first-team all-UAA at No. 1 singles and teamed with sophomore Benjamin van der Sman to pick up second-team all-UAA at No. 2 doubles.

In addition, senior Konrad Kozlowski earned honorable-mention all-UAA accolades at No. 5 singles and senior Radha Vishnubhotla and freshman Luke McClelland teamed up to garner honorable-mention all-UAA honors at No. 3 doubles.

ETHAN HILLIS
Hillis has a 25-5 mark in singles, including a 16-4 mark at No. 1 singles. He was the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region singles champion and placed fifth at the Oracle Cup. Hillis is 7-2 against ranked opponents, and ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division III. He has a 41-12 overall record and will represent WashU in the NCAA singles championship.

Hillis and Van der sman had an 8-4 record in doubles, including a 7-3 mark at No. 2 doubles. The duo went 2-1 at the UAA Championship in April, and also is 2-0 in NCAA Tournament play. Van der sman has a 37-17 combined record. 

KONRAD KOZLOWSKI
Kozlowski has a 20-3 record in singles, and had a 12-match winning streak from Feb. 9-April 15. He went 1-0 at the UAA Championship, and posted a pair of straight-set victories in the NCAA Tournament. Kozlowski has a 40-13 combined record, and is eighth in school history in doubles wins (81) and 19th in all-time victories (113). 

RADHA VISHNUBHOTLA/LUKE MCCLELLAND
Vishnubhotla and McClelland posted a 6-1 record, including a 4-1 mark at No. 3 doubles. The duo went 2-1 at the UAA Championship. Vishnubhotla has a 22-6 combined record this season, while McClelland is 18-12 in his rookie campaign. 

No. 7-ranked WashU (19-7) advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 13th-straight season following a 5-0 victory vs. No. 27 Kalamazoo College. The Bears take on No. 3 Emory University on Monday, May 20, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
