Claremont, Calif., May 24, 2018 — Washington University in St. Louis sophomore Bernardo Neves was named the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's Tennis National Player to Watch, as announced Wednesday at the NCAA Individual Championship Banquet in Claremont, Calif.
Neves has a 50-15 overall record in 2017-18 while playing No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles for the Bears. He has a 28-4 mark in singles, and is ranked No. 6 in the Central Region.
Neves will represent WashU in the NCAA Individual Championship, and takes on Steven Chen of Wesleyan Thursday at 8:45 a.m. (PT) in the first round.
He was a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection at No. 2 singles and a member of the UAA All-Tournament Team.
Neves was named the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Elite 90 Award winner, and also earned 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District and Academic all-UAA honors.
