St. Louis, Mo., May 9, 2018 — Washington University in St. Louis will send two singles players and a doubles team to the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Individual Championships, which is scheduled for May 24-26 at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.
Sophomore Bernardo Neves and senior Johnny Wu were selected to compete in the 32-man singles championship, while senior Jason Haugen and junior Konrad Kozlowski were one of 16 doubles teams selected to compete in the doubles championship.
Neves makes his first NCAA appearance after posting a 49-13 record, including a 28-4 mark in singles. He is ranked No. 6 in the Central Region in singles and has a 21-1 record in dual matches. He has won all three matches against ranked opponents, and is eight wins shy of 100 for his career.
Wu, who is making his second appearance in singles, is ranked No. 2 in the Central Region. He has a 17-9 mark in singles this season, including a 14-8 mark at No. 1 singles. Wu has a 4-5 record against ranked opponents this season, and is four wins shy of 100 for his career.
Haugen and Kozlowski, who are making their second-consecutive appearance, are ranked No. 3 in the Central Region and No. 12 in NCAA Division III. The duo has a 16-4 overall record, including an 8-2 mark at No. 1 doubles. They have a 4-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents, winning its last four matches.
No. 10-ranked WashU (15-8) received a first-round bye in the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship and takes on the winner of Hope and Franciscan in the second round Friday at 10 a.m. (ET) in Gambier, Ohio.
