WashU Falls to Defending Champ Bowdoin in Quarterfinal

Chattanooga, Tenn., May 22, 2017 – The No. 4-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team could not overcome a doubles deficit in a 5-3 loss to No. 7-ranked and defending national champion Bowdoin College Monday in the 2017 NCAA Division III Quarterfinals at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

WashU, who made its 11-straight quarterfinal appearance, finished its season with an 18-5 record. Bowdoin won its sixth-straight match to improve to 21-4.

"We battled all day and I was happy with the effort from our guys," said 16th-year head coach Roger Follmer. "We just lost to a better team today."
