WashU Takes on Defending Champ Bowdoin in NCAA Quarters

Chattanooga, Tenn., May 21, 2017 — The No. 4-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team takes the court against No. 7 and defending national champion Bowdoin College in the 2017 NCAA Division III Quarterfinals on Monday, May 22, at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. (ET).

The Bears are making their 11th-straight NCAA Quarterfinal appearance. WashU won its lone NCAA Division III National Championship in 2008, and have an overall record of 42-22 (.656) in 19 trips to the NCAA Tournament.

WashU (18-4) defeated No. 28 Kenyon College 5-1 on May 13 in St. Louis to capture the regional championship. The Bears are making their 14th overall NCAA quarterfinal appearance, and seeking their eighth NCAA Semifinal appearance in the last 10 years.

Bowdoin (20-4) enters quarterfinal play riding a five-match winning streak following a 5-0 win over No. 20 Massachusetts Institute of Technology on May 13 in the regional championship. The Polar Bears are in the the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second-straight season and fourth time in program history.

Four quarterfinal matches will take place on Monday, followed by the national semifinals on Tuesday and the title match on Wednesday. Following the team championship junior Johnny Wu will compete in the singles championship, while junior Jason Haugen and sophomore Konrad Kozlowski will complete in the doubles championship. The individual championships are slated for Thursday-Saturday, May 25-27.
