Tyler Kratky Falls in USTA/ITA Central Region Singles Title Match

Indianapolis, Ind., Sept. 29, 2014 – Washington University in St. Louis junior Tyler Kratky's impressive run in the singles draw came to an end Monday morning in the championship match of the 2014 USTA/ITA Central Region Singles Championship with a 6-3, 7-5 loss to No. 19 seed Nicolas Chu of the University of Chicago.

Kratky, the No. 17 seed in the 128-man singles draw, won six matches in three days and ousted four seeds to advance to Monday's championship match.

After dropping the first set 6-3, Kratky quickly built a 3-0 lead in set two. He extended the advantage to 5-2, but Chua rallied for five-straight games to post a 7-5 victory. By winning the Regional title, Chua advances to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships to be held Oct. 9-12 at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

Kratky posted a 10-2 record in the fall (7-1 singles, 3-1 doubles).
