Franco Carotenuto enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer program in 2017. Carotenuto serves as the goalkeeper coach for the Bears
He arrived on the Danforth Campus after spending three seasons on the SLU coaching staff. Carotenuto is also the director of goalkeeping for the Lou Fusz Soccer Club in St. Louis.
An Arizona native, he began his collegiate career at NCAA Division II Grand Canyon University. During his junior season in 2008, Carotenuto led the nation in save percentage (.875) and was fifth nationally with a 0.56 goals against average. The two-time Pacific West Goalkeeper of the Year holds the school record with a 0.77 career GAA.
After earning a bachelor's degree in marketing from Grand Canyon, he transferred to San Francisco for his senior season and started six games for the Dons. Carotenuto continued his playing career after college, playing in Mexico and for Sporting Kansas City reserves in 2010.
His coaching experience includes serving as an assistant varsity and junior varsity coach at Shadow Mountain High School (Phoenix, Ariz.) and as the goalkeeper coach at the Blue Valley Soccer Club (Overland Park, Kan.).
