St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 9, 2018 – Fresh off a hard-fought 2-2 double overtime draw at then No. 6-ranked Rochester Sunday, the Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team has moved to No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, as announced Tuesday by the organization.
WashU is one of five University Athletic Association (UAA) teams ranked in the top-25 joining Chicago (No. 1), Rochester (No. 11), Carnegie Mellon (No. 13) and Case Western Reserve (No. 19).
Head coach Joe Clarke, who is in 22ndseason at WashU, has guided the Bears to a 5-4-1 overall mark in 2018. The Bears sit in a tie for second place in the UAA standings with a 1-0-1 record.
Senior forward Ryan Sproule leads the team with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. Sproule ranks third in the UAA in goals and points, and also leads the league with 56 shots. Junior goalkeeper Connor Mathes has a 3-3-1 record with a 1.03 goals against average.
WashU continues its five-game road trip with league games at No. 19 Case on Friday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. (ET) and No. 13 Carnegie Mellon on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m.(ET).
