St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 9, 2017 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team had three student-athletes earn University Athletic Association (UAA) all-association honors, as announced Thursday by the conference office.
Rieger, a three-time all-UAA selection, started 11 of 15 games played on the back line for the Bears. He helped anchor the WashU defense that posted five shutouts and had a 1.11 goals against average. Rieger converted 3-of-4 penalty kicks this season, and was second on the squad with three goals.
Sproule, a two-time all-UAA honoree, started all 16 games and led the team in scoring with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. He was sixth in the UAA in goals and points, and seventh in game-winning goals (2). Sproule scored game-winning goals in wins over DePauw (3-0) and Webster (2-0).
Strozewski started 12 of 14 games played and had three goals and three assists for nine points, which was second on the the squad. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Case Western Reserve University Oct. 13.
WashU finished the season with a 7-7-2 record, including a 1-5-1 mark in the UAA.
