St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 24, 2013 – After posting back-to-back shutouts to improve to 4-1-1, the Washington University in St. Louis moved into this week's National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Soccer poll at No. 16.
The Bears, whose lone loss was a 3-2 setback against then-No. 13 Dominican University (Ill.) Sept. 7, entered the rankings for the first time this season. Washington U. earned a 1-0 win at Illinois Wesleyan University Sunday to improve to 4-1-1 on the season. It was the second-straight shutout the Bears have posted this season. Twelve different players for Washington U. have recorded goals or assists this season. The Bears have tallied at least one goal in each of their first six contests.
Fellow University Athletic Association (UAA) teams Carnegie Mellon University (No. 18) and Brandeis University (No. 25) were also ranked in this week's top-25. University of Rochester and University of Chicago were both among the teams receiving votes outside the top-25.
Washington U. is scheduled to play a pair of road matches this week, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at Greenville College Wednesday in Greenville, Ill. The Bears then travel to Wheaton, Ill., to face No. 8 Wheaton College at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
