Nester Named Google Cloud Academic All-District


St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 21, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis junior guard Matt Nester was named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-District Five Men's Basketball Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Nester has started all 24 games at point guard and is averaging 10.7 points, 3.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game. He leads the University Athletic Association (UAA) in three-point field-goal percentage (.432) and is also fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0), sixth in three-pointers made (54) and seventh in assists (84).

Nester has scored in double figures in 11 games this season, including a career-best 22 points vs. NYU on Feb. 15. He has also dished out four or more assists 13 times this year. Nester was named to the Nicholas Investments Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team in November.

A two-time Academic all-UAA selection, he has a 3.89 grade point average while majoring in biology.

To be eligible for nomination to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, and must be a starter or an important reserve. 

Nester is now eligible to be selected to the Academic All-America Team, announced Wednesday, March 13.
