St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 2, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis junior center Hank Hunter was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Association Wednesday.
Hunter, who earned the accolade for the first time in his career, split the honor with Case Western Reserve's Ignas Masiulionis.
He averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as WashU split a pair of road games. Hunter had 13 points and eight rebounds in a 77-63 loss at No. 3 Augustana (Ill.) Dec. 29, and then recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 20 points and 13 boards in a 92-80 win at Westminster (Mo.) Dec. 31.
He shot 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the field in the two games. Hunter leads the UAA in field-goal percentage (.667) and is fourth in rebounds (8.2).
