SCOUTING ILLINOIS COLLEGE – The Blueboys finished the 2017-18 season with an 8-17 overall record and a 3-15 mark in the Midwest Conference. Steve Schweer enters his first season as head coach at IC. He is the 18th men's basketball coach in program history. Illinois College suffered an 82-75 loss at home to Webster University in it season opener Thursday.

SERIES NOTES – WashU leads the all-time series 16-3 in a series that dates back to the 1946-47 season. The Bears defeated IC in the second game of the 2000-01 season, 73-65, in their last meeting.

HEAD COACH PAT JUCKEM – WashU head coach Pat Juckem (Lawrence, 1995) was named the 24th men's basketball coach in program history on May 1, 2018. Juckem arrives on the Danforth Campus after spending the past six seasons as the head coach at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He guided the Titans to a 25-8 overall record in 2017-18, and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship game. Juckem compiled a 95-73 (.565) record at UW-Oshkosh. He also spent seven seasons at Coe (2006-12), and has 199-153 (.565) overall record in 13 seasons as a head coach.

2018-19 SEASON PREVIEW – WashU returns 10 letterwinners from last year's squad that posted a 22-4 overall record and won its 15th University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship. The Bears advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Sophomore guard Jack Nolan earned Central Region Rookie of the Year and Honorable-Mention all-UAA honors last year. Nolan appeared in 26 games as a rookie at shooting guard, averaging 11.6 points per game while shooting 50.5 percent from the field. WashU also returns junior guard Matt Nester (3.9 ppg, 1.8 apg), senior center Marcus Meyer (3.2 ppg, 2.0 rpg), junior center Hank Hunter (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg) and junior DeVaughn Rucker (2.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg).

UAA PRESEASON POLL – WashU was picked third in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Preseason Coaches Poll. Emory was chosen first, while Rochester was second.
