Edwards Named HoopDirt.com DIII Coach of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 29, 2018 – Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball coach Mark Edwards was named the HoopDirt.com Division III Coach of the Week, presented by Just Play Solutions.

Edwards and the second-ranked Bears extended their winning streak to eight games with two road wins against top-25 foes last weekend.

On Friday, the Bears posted a 77-62 victory at No. 22 Rochester behind a well-rounded attack that featured five players in double figures. WashU followed that up with an 84-67 win at No. 13 Emory on Sunday as the five senior starters scored 80 of 84 points. With the win, the Bears took sole possession of first place in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

WashU has a 16-2 overall record and a 7-0 mark in conference play, and hosts No. 22 Rochester Friday at 8 p.m.

Edwards ranks ninth all-time in Division III in wins with a 679-291 (.700) record in 37 seasons on the Danforth Campus. He is now eligible to receive HoopDirt.com's National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be given out at the conclusion of the 2017-18 college basketball season.
