BEAR HEADLINES – The No. 10-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team returns from a 12-day layoff to host a pair of home games. The Bears open a five-game homestand against No. 3 Augustana College (Ill.) on Friday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m., followed by a contest against Westminster College (Mo.) on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m.

BEARS NAMED NABC TEAM OF THE WEEK – WashU was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Team of the Week for games played Dec. 11-17. Head coach Mark Edwards led the Bears to a pair of road wins last week by a combined total of 56 points. WashU had a dominant first half on Dec. 17 to claim a 95-69 win over regional rival Illinois Wesleyan, which entered the game with just one loss on the season.

THOUSAND-POINT CLUB – Senior forward Andrew Sanders is 16 points shy of becoming the 24th member of the 1,000-point club. Sanders has scored 984 points in 69 career games, for an average of 14.3 points per game.

EDWARDS MOVES INTO TOP-10 – Head coach Mark Edwards picked up win No. 667 in a 77-73 victory over Ohio Northern University Nov. 25 to move into ninth all-time in NCAA Division III in wins. Edwards has compiled a 671-290 (.699) record in 37 seasons on the Danforth Campus, and is 14 victories shy of eighth all-time.

NOLAN EARNS NATIONAL HONOR – Freshman guard Jack Nolan was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Dec. 18, presented by Scoutware. Nolan averaged 16.5 points per game and hit 7-of-12 three-pointers in a pair of road wins last week for the 10th-ranked Bears. He scored a career-high 23 points on 5-of-7 three-point shooting in a 95-69 win at Illinois Wesleyan Sunday.

SECOND-HALF TEAM – WashU has trailed at half in five of nine games. The Bears have outscored their opponents 355-343 in the first half, but have a 425-351 scoring advantage in the second half. WashU is averaging 39.4 points in the first half and 47.2 in the second half.
