Sanders Named Street & Smith’s Preseason All-American

St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 22, 2017 – Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball senior forward Andrew Sanders was named to the 2017-18 Street & Smith's Preseason Honorable-Mention All-America Team, as announced by the magazine. 

Sanders, a 2017 D3hoops.com and NABC All-Central Region Second-Team selection, averaged a team-high 16.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 27 starts for the Bears. He scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games played, including a career-high 30 points in an 88-77 win at Case Western Reserve University Jan. 29.

Sanders, a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, ranked third in the conference in scoring, seventh in steals (1.2), ninth in field-goal percentage (.541) and 10th in rebounding (6.3). He also finished second in the league with 121 free-throws made. Sanders earned UAA Athlete of the Week honors on Jan. 30 and Feb. 6.

The Bears begin the 2017-18 season hosting the 34th Annual Lopata Classic on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 17-18. WashU takes on Wabash College Friday at 7 p.m. in the season opener.
