St. Louis, Mo., November 8, 2013 — Washington University in St. Louis senior forward Chris Klimek was named to the 2013 D3hoops.com preseason men's basketball All-America Team, as announced Friday by the website. Klimek was one of five seniors named to the second team.
Klimek averaged 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds at power forward for the Bears in 2012-13, and scored in double figures in 22 of 27 games played. He finished the season third in the University Athletic Association (UAA) in field-goal percentage (.578), fourth in blocked shots (25), fifth in scoring (15.4) and eighth in rebounding (5.7). Klimek scored more than 20 points on five occasions, including a career-high 31 points on 14-of-17 shooting in a 94-63 win vs. Austin College Nov. 23.
Klimek was a second-Team NABC and D3hoops.com all-Midwest Region and first-team all-UAA honoree in 2012-13. In two seasons on the Danforth Campus, Klimek has started 47 of 48 games played averaging 14.2 points (680 points) and 5.6 rebounds (268 rebounds) per game and ranks sixth in school history in field-goal percentage (.558).
