Jake Coon Named D3football.com All-North Region

D3FOOTBALL.COM ALL-NORTH REGION

St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 4, 2018 – Washington University in St. Louis senior linebacker Jake Coon was named to the 2018 D3football.com All-North Region Third Team, as announced by the website Tuesday.

Coon, a first-team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) selection, started all 10 games at middle linebacker and led the conference in tackles was sixth in NCAA Division III with 122. He also tied for the team lead with four interceptions. Coon reached 10 or more tackles in seven games, including a season-high 17 stops in a 44-6 win over Carroll Nov. 10. He also had 16 tackles and two interceptions in a 38-24 win at Augustana Oct. 27. 

Coon was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 8, and was a two-time D3football.com Team of the Week selection. He finished his career with 333 tackles and 12 interceptions.

WashU finished the 2018 season with an 8-2 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the CCIW, good for third place. The Bears were ranked No. 25 in the final regular-season D3football.com Top-25 poll. WashU's eight wins are tied for second most in a single season in the 122 years of the program.
