WashU Ranked No. 25 in D3football.com Top-25 Poll

St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 12, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis football team is ranked No. 25 in the final regular season D3football.com Top-25 poll, as announced by the website.

WashU is ranked for the first time since 2004, when the Bears were ranked No. 23 in the Street & Smith'sPre-Season Top-25 Poll. WashU is also ranked for the first time in the 16-year history of the D3football.com Top-25 Poll.

The Bears finished the 2018 season with an 8-2 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), good for third place. WashU's eight wins are tied for second most in a single season in the 122 years of the program.

A few season highlights:

  • WashU has won eight games in a season five times: (1999, 2001, 2013, 2016, 2018).
  • The Bears picked up their first win over a ranked team in eight years in the 17-10 victory over No. 12 Wheaton on Oct. 14.
  • WashU had four student-athletes earn six D3football.com Team of the Week honors: senior linebacker Jake Coon (Oct. 9, Oct. 30), junior quarterback/punter Johnny Davidson (Oct. 2, Oct. 30), junior defensive back Jeff Marek (Sept. 24) and sophomore defensive lineman Peter Pigatti (Oct. 16).
  • WashU's strength of schedule ranks 32ndout of 250 teams in NCAA Division III.
