St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 2, 2017 – The Washington University in St. Louis football team announced its 2016 award winners at its annual Dinner with the Bears. The players and the coaches voted on the awards.

Darryl Sharp Memorial MVP Award, OffenseJ.J. Tomlin – First-team all-UAA and second-team all-SAA ... Gagliardi Trophy Semifinalist ... Completed 304-of-477 passes for a school-record 3,760 yards and 36 TDs ... Ranks fourth in NCAA Division III in passing yards and passing TDs and 13th in total offense (337.1) ... Threw for over 300 yards in eight of 11 games played, including twice over 400 ... SAA Player of the Week on Oct. 10 ... UAA Offensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 10 and Nov. 14 ... WUSTL Offensive Player of the Week vs. Berry (10/1), at Rhodes (10/9) vs. Sewanee (10/15) ... Team captain.

WashU finished the 2016 season with an 8-3 overall record and made its third NCAA playoff appearance in school history. The eight wins are the second most in school history. The Bears were also co-champions in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and the University Athletic Association (UAA).
