TEAM OF THE WEEK

St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 15, 2016 – The Washington University in St. Louis football team had three student-athletes named to the D3football.com Team of the Week following their performances in a 43-34 win at the University of Chicago Saturday.

Freshman punter Johnny Davidson, sophomore defensive back Ben Marcus and senior tight end Matt Page each earned honor. Page also picked up the accolade on Sept. 6, while Marcus earned the honor for the second-straight week.

Davidson averaged 44.8 yards on six punts in the win at Chicago. He had a career-long 58-yard punt in the first quarter, and also added two inside the 20. WashU's punt team limited Chicago to -6 yards in the win, and the Bears are second in NCAA Division III in net punting (40.57).

Marcus had 15 tackles, two interceptions and a half tackle for loss in the victory at Chicago. Marcus' first interception in the end zone stalled a 10-play, 79-yard drive in the second quarter, while his second pick with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter sealed the victory. He ranks third in the SAA in interceptions (4) and fourth in tackles (96).

Page hauled in a career-high nine catches for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win. He had a pair of touchdown receptions: a 14-yarder in the first and a 58-yarder in the second. Page leads NCAA Division III tight ends in receptions (61) and receiving yards (858).

WashU claimed a share of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and University Athletic Association (UAA) titles and gained the SAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Bears take on No. 4-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Saturday at Noon (CT) in the first round.

This is the 18th season that D3football.com has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week.
