WashU Baseball Receives ABCA Academic Excellence Award

ABCA ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
St. Louis, Mo., July 26, 2019 –
The Washington University in St. Louis baseball team received the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the organization.

WashU had a 3.469 cumulative grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year. The team featured 21 Bears who recorded a 3.50 GPA or higher for the year, including two 4.00 GPAs.

Sophomore pitcher Ryan Loutos was previously selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Senior second baseman Evan Nagel and junior catcher Thomas Gardner joined Loutos on the Google Cloud Academic All-District Five Team.

WashU wrapped up the 2019 season by tying a program best 34 wins, finishing 34-7-1 overall which included the third University Athletic Association (UAA) championship in the past four years. The Red & Green hosted the NCAA Regional and totaled a program best three tournament wins.
