St. Louis, Mo., April 1, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes recognized as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports.
Over the weekend in the 5,000m run, Matteucci ran to a personal-best and the second fastest time in program history when he crossed the finish line in 14:27.14. The time ranks second in Division III this season. The No. 13 WashU men's team scored 174 points which outscored the closest finisher by 46 points.
Durbin was the sparkplug of No. 25 WashU baseball's offense, reaching base .500 percent of the time with seven hits in 14 at-bats. He helped WashU to a 3-0 weekend while scoring at least one run in each game including three against Iowa Wesleyan. Durbin also had two extra base hits and two RBI for the Bears.
Loutos may not have picked up the victory in his start this week but his quality effort led the Bears to a 2-1 win over Case Western Reserve University. Louotos was solid through six innings of work, allowing just four hits, one walk and one run while striking out 11 batters. He averaged 16.50 strikeouts-per-nine innings in the contest to go along with a 1.50 earned run average.
