St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 15, 2019 –
Washington University in St. Louis baseball senior pitcher John Howard was named a Preseason All-American honorable mention selection, as announced by the website.

The preseason All-America team is chosen from previous years' All-American and All-Region nominations.

Howard earned All-American honorable mention status following his record setting 2018 junior season in which he set the Bears single season earned run average record for a starting pitcher. He posted a 1.01 ERA, totaling 71.1 innings pitched allowing 58 hits and 14 walks for a 1.01 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched), in addition to striking out a career-high 63 batters.

The St. Louis, Mo.-native is one of four All-American pitchers in program history. Howard was also named the Central Region and University Athletic Association (UAA) Pitcher of the Year a season ago.
