St. Louis, Mo., May 22, 2017 - Senior pitcher Scott Nelson of the Washington University in St. Louis baseball team was named to the Division III Central Regional All-Tournament Team, as announced by Webster University.
Nelson pitched nine-innings of one-hit ball against the Wartburg Knights on Saturday. He kept the Knights off the scoreboard for nine frames, but the Knights eventually scored the lone run of the game in the 12th to advance while knocking the Bears out of the tournament. In addition to allowing just one hit, he only walked one batter while striking out two. He also was efficient in his outing, needing just 96 pitches through nine-innings.
WashU finished the season with a 27-10 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. The Bears were also crowned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Champions after posting an 8-2 conference record.
