St. Louis, Mo., April 18, 2017 – Washington University in St. Louis senior starting pitcher Brad Margolin was named to D3baseball.com's National Team of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the website Tuesday.
Margolin earned the honor with his second consecutive complete game shutout performance to open a University Athletic Association (UAA) series. This past week he threw nine shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk with five strikeouts to help WashU past Case Western Reserve University in a 1-0 pitcher's duel. Two weeks prior, Margolin shutout then No. 10 Emory University in a 3-0 victory at WashU to earn a spot on the National Team of the Week as well.
The last run Margolin surrendered was in a 14-1 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on March 26 in the second inning. He has pitched three consecutive complete games to lead WashU to victory, including a span of 23 straight scoreless innings.
The Bears current ranking in D3baseball.com's top-25 national poll is No. 20 in the country. WashU will travel to Brandeis University this weekend with four games scheduled to begin Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m. (ET).
