St. Louis, Mo., April 25, 2016 — Washington University in St. Louis junior second baseman Ben Browdy and junior pitcher Brad Margolin were named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Baseball Athletes of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
Browdy earned UAA Hitter of the Week honors for the third time this season after batting .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, a triple, a home run and nine RBIs to lead WashU to four wins last week. He hit safely and recorded an RBI in all four games, including three multi-hit games. Browdy was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs in a 6-0 win over MacMurray College April 22, and then went 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBIs in a 15-4 win over Principia College April 23. Browdy leads NCAA Division III with 64 RBIs.
Margolin earned UAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season after throwing the first complete-game shutout of his career in WashU's 6-0 win over MacMurray April 22. He allowed eight hits and struck out four and did not walk a batter. The complete game for Margolin was his third of the season.
The WashU baseball team has won four-straight games and has a 26-13 overall record. The Bears host Webster University in a single game Tuesday, April 26, at 3 p.m.
