In just her second season on the Danforth Campus, head coach Leticia Pineda-Boutté (Leh-tee-cee-uh Pih-NAY-dah Boo-TAY) made her mark on the Washington University in St. Louis softball team, guiding the Bears to an NCAA runner-up finish in 2007.

Pineda-Boutté, the 2007 NFCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year, led the Bears to a 35-7 overall record and their first-ever trip to the College World Series. WU also won its first regional championship and fourth-straight University Athletic Association (UAA) championship.

A three-time all-American at the University of Arizona, Pineda-Boutté wrapped up her first season on the Danforth Campus with a 37-7 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. She and her staff also earned UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors after leading the Bears to the UAA championship.

Pineda-Boutté, the second softball coach in program history, came to Washington University after serving as the assistant coach for one season at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Prior to Purdue, she served as the assistant coach at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., for two seasons, where she primarily coached the pitchers, catchers and hitters. At Creighton, she helped lead the Bluejays to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Pineda-Boutté began her coaching career as interim head coach at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs during the 1999-2000 season. She guided the Mountain Lions to a 21-26 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the team's first postseason appearance in four years.

Pineda-Boutté stands as one of the most prolific players in the history of University of Arizona softball. She is the only Division I athlete to be named first-team All-America at three different positions – catcher (1996), third base (1997) and first base (1998). She helped guide her teams to the College World Series each of her four years, bringing home the national championship in 1996 and 1997, while winning Pac-10 Conference titles in 1995, 1996 and 1997.

The three-time all-region and all-America honoree connected for 52 home runs in her career, the 25th-highest mark in NCAA Division I history. Her 240 career RBI also ranks eighth on the all-time NCAA list. Upon graduation from Arizona, Pineda-Boutté spent one season playing for the Tampa Bay Firestix of the WPSL in 1999.

Pineda-Boutté was selected to attend the 2007 NCAA Women Coaches Academy in Denver, Colo. She was one of 45 coaches to attend the event, which included head and assistant coaches from every NCAA sport and division.

A 2004 University of Arizona Hall of Fame inductee, she graduated from Arizona with a bachelor of arts degree in humanities in 1998. She is currently enrolled at Webster University, where she is working on her master of arts degree in management and leadership.

Pineda-Boutté and her husband Shawn Boutté have one daughter, Lorin (2).
