Hanly Leads Bears Past Division II, Missouri-St. Louis, 4-0

Senior Elyse Hanly scored two goals to lead the No. 8 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team to a 4-0 non-conference victory at Division II University of Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday night in St. Louis, Mo.

Junior Emma Brown and sophomore Michelle Peterson also scored for the Bears, which extended its winning streak to seven matches and its unbeaten streak to 15 games. The goal for Brown was her University Athletic Association (UAA)-leading 14th of the season, while Peterson found the net for the first time in her career.

Freshman Clara Jaques and junior Katy Southworth split time in the nets, registering the team’s eighth shutout of the season.

Washington University (14-2-1, 5-0-1 UAA) concludes regular season play on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the University of Chicago. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. in Chicago, Ill. A win in Saturday’s UAA finale would secure the Bears their fourth-straight and seventh-overall UAA title.

Bear Notebook: The game was played as an exhibition for Missouri-St. Louis, which ended its regular season on Oct. 25 … The two goals for Hanly upped her career total to seven.
