Alex Hoover Named to DIII News 2007-08 All-Freshman Team

St. Louis, Mo., March 27, 2008 – Freshman guard Alex Hoover of the Washington University women’s basketball team was named to the DIII News 2007-08 All-Freshman Team, as announced by the publication. She earns the All-Freshman Team honor after being tabbed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year on March 5.

Hoover finished the season averaging 5.9 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game. Saving her best basketball for the end of the year, she scored in double figures in four of Washington University’s last six regular season games, raising her scoring average from 4.6 ppg to 5.8 ppg during that stretch.

Hoover appeared in all 27 games for the Bears, shooting a team-best 46.3 percent (56-of-121) from the field. In Washington University’s two NCAA Tournament games, she averaged 6.5 points, 6.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

The women’s basketball team concluded its season with a 19-8 overall record, and made its NCAA record 19th-straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, advancing to the second round.
