McFarlin Receives NCAA Women's Enhancement Scholarship

St. Louis, Mo., March 12, 2008 – Washington University women’s basketball junior Jaimie McFarlin is the recipient of the 2008-09 NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women’s Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics, as announced by the NCAA.

McFarlin is one of 13 student-athletes to receive the ethnic minority scholarship. In order to be eligible, a student must be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or related program that will help them obtain a career in intercollegiate athletics.

The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics and Minority Opportunities and Interests developed the scholarship with the intent of increasing the pool of opportunities for qualified minority and female candidates in intercollegiate athletics.

McFarlin averaged 14.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in seven games played in 2007-08 before suffering a season-ending injury. The women’s basketball team concluded its season with a 19-8 overall record, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship second round.
