Volleyball Team to be Featured on NCAA Championships Show

St. Louis, Mo., December 27, 2007 – The Washington University volleyball team will be featured on the nationally televised CBS telecast, “CBS Sports Presents: Championships of the NCAA,” on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m.  The Bears won the 2007 NCAA Division III Volleyball National Championship on Nov. 17.

The one-hour broadcast will feature highlights from the 2007 cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball championships.  The show is airing for the fifth-consecutive year and Saturday’s telecast is the 16th edition. The show features highlights and NCAA student-athlete stories from the Division II and III championships.

The Bears finished 2007 with a 33-5 record and a Division III-record ninth national title. Washington U. defeated the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 3-2, in the national championship match in Bloomington, Ill. En route to the national title the Bears knocked off five teams ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) top-25 poll.
