Kreitman and Vukovich Named to Academic All-District Team

St. Louis, Mo., May 8, 2008 – Junior infielder Kerry Kreitman and senior outfielder Amy Vukovich of the No. 16 Washington University in St. Louis softball team were named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District VII First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Kreitman has started 36 games for the Bears hitting .371 with one home run and 23 RBI. She leads the team in doubles (11) and is second in hits (43). An Academic All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, Kreitman has a 3.96 grade point average and is majoring in civil engineering.

Vukovich has made 38 starts in the outfield and is hitting .339 with one home run and 22 RBI.  She leads the team in triples (3) and is third in hits (39). Vukovich also has a perfect fielding percentage, recording 39 putouts on the year. An Academic All-UAA selection, Vukovich has a 3.97 grade point average and will graduate in May with a degree in chemical engineering.

To be eligible for nomination to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, nominees must own a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better. Kreitman and Vukovich are now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced May 28.
