Brooks and Northrop Earn Academic All-District Honors

St. Louis, Mo., November 8, 2007Washington University in St. Louis senior offensive lineman Kevin Brooks and junior offensive lineman Paul Northrop have been named to the 2007 ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District VII First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA).

Brooks and Northrop are now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America Team, to be announced Thursday, Nov. 29.

Brooks, a semifinalist for the 2007 Draddy Trophy, has started 28-consecutive games at center for the Bears. He was an honorable-mention all-University Athletic Association (UAA) in 2005 and 2006, and was a first-team ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District VII selection in 2006. A three-time Academic All-UAA honoree, Brooks has a 3.84 grade point average and will graduate in May with a degree in finance.

Northrop jumped into the starting lineup this season notching starts in all nine games at left tackle. A two-time Academic All-UAA honoree, Northrop has a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in chemical engineering.

Washington University (6-3, 1-2 UAA) closes out regular season play at Greenville College on Saturday, Nov. 10. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Francis Field in Greenville, Ill.
