Tim Johnson Named UAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., November 6, 2009
– Junior kicker Tim Johnson of the Washington University in St. Louis football team has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) co-Special Teams Athlete of the Week, as announced by the association on Friday.

Johnson was 2-for-2 in field goals in WU’s 21-13 loss at Carnegie Mellon University on Oct. 31 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He nailed a career-long 36-yard field to give the Bears a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, and then added a 27-yarder midway through the third quarter to push the advantage to 13-0. This marked the first time in 48 games (Nov. 6, 2004 at Washington & Jefferson) that Washington U. has connected on two field goals in a game.

Washington University (3-5, 0-1 UAA) returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 7, at home against the University of Chicago, in its final home game of the 2009 season. Prior to the game, there will be a ceremony to honor the 15 seniors appearing in their final regular season home contest.
