Daiber and Brown Named to Academic All-District Team
ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
St. Louis, Mo., November 5, 2009 – Senior offensive lineman Jared Daiber and junior defensive back Brandon Brown of the Washington University in St. Louis football team earned ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII honors, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Daiber has started all eight games for the Bears at left guard this season and is a three-time Academic All-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection. Daiber, who has a 3.83 grade point average while majoring in mechanical engineering, is now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced Nov. 24.
Brown, a second-team honoree, is second in the UAA in interceptions (four) and third in passes defended (nine). He is also fourth on the team in tackles with 41. Brown, who has a 3.78 GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering, has made 28-consecutive starts for the Bears, making 115 career tackles with nine interceptions.
To be eligible for nomination to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must own a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better.
Washington University (3-5, 0-1 UAA) plays its final home game on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Noon, against the University of Chicago. Prior to the game, there will be a ceremony to honor the 15 seniors appearing in their final regular season home contest.
